*There is no school on Friday, April 9 or Monday, April 12 for the Easter holiday. Enjoy the long weekend!

*Play-n-Bake orders are due today. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly toward funding improvements of the Parent Picnic Pavilion, an outside eating area for parents and children. Delivery is on April 26.

*Spring Photos: Please return the spring photos that went home in this week’s Tuesday folder or return payment for the photos you decide to keep.

*If you can help monitor student testing of the TAKS and SDAA tests at LWE during the day on April 27, 28, or 29, please get in touch with Karen Andrus at 533-6350 or andrusk@laketravis.txed.net. Monitors are needed to help keep the halls quiet and to provide teacher breaks. Thank you to the parents who have already agreed to help out.

*LWE Joins American Cancer Society Relay for Life: Teachers at Lakeway Elementary are joining the fight against cancer on April 23-24 at the LTHS track. This event is a time to honor cancer survivors and to commemorate loved ones who have battled cancer. The Lakeway team has set a goal to raise $2,000 by April 16th. Relay for Life dollars support services for cancer patients and their families, childhood cancer survivor scholarships, 24/7 access to the latest cancer information, educational materials for schools, early detection programs, and research to develop new cancer drugs and treatments. The LWE team members are Sam Hicks, Diana Porter, Cindy Allen, Pam Browning, Julie Wilson, Kitty Fleming, Connie Evans, and Angela Hampton (team captain). If you would like to make a tax-deductible contribution, please make a check payable to the American Cancer Society and deliver it to the LWE office by April 16th.

*Mark your calendar now to attend LWE’s performance of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Performances are Thursday, April 29 at 7pm (Cast A), Friday, April 30 at 7pm (Cast B), Saturday, May 1 at 7pm (Cast A), and Sunday, May 2 at 2pm (Cast B). All performances are for ages second grade and older, except for the Sunday performance, which is for all ages. Performances will be in the Lakeway Elementary School cafeteria and tickets will be $5.00. Look for more information soon.

*If your child is interested in participating in the Math-A-Thon, which raises money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, please make sure he or she completes the program’s math booklet and returns it to school by April 16. Donations are due by April 19.

*To all 5th grade parents: Lake Travis Middle School has many opportunities for you to be involved next year! We need board members, committee chairs, and program chairs.
