Congratulations to Julie Murphy, our fabulous Box Tops collector, for being recognized for “outstanding accomplishment” by the Box Tops Rewards program! Julie and her helpers have promoted the Box Tops program at LWE for several years now and have counted and redeemed nearly 31,000 Box Tops in the past two years alone, which has generated over $3,000 for LWE. Way to go Julie and to everyone who sends in Box Tops! This is a good time to remind you to clip Box Tops on various products. Each Box Top is worth 10 cents. A complete list of participating products is on our Web site. Go to www.lakewaypto.org/box.htm for more information. Keep sending those Box Tops -- “One dime at a time!”
Need a flu shot for yourself, your spouse, or your kids? Sign up now in the school office…a nurse will be at LWE on Monday, October 18 from 8 - 10am to give flu shots. The price is $18, payable when you get the shot, and receipts for insurance will be available for people who need them. Need more information? Visit the office for a vaccine information sheet from the CDC or go to http://www.cdc.gov/flu/.
Our fundraiser featuring Sally Foster gift wrap products has arrived. The Sally Foster catalog was sent home on Tuesday and the sale will run through Tuesday, October 5. Out of town family and friends can participate via www.SallyFoster.com; the school account number for LWE is 577163. Thank you for your support. We are looking forward to our best fundraiser ever!
Just a reminder…when paying the PTO for purchases (such as Sally Foster gift wrap, t-shirts, or memberships), please make your checks payable to LWE PTO. Committee chairpersons…before making your deposits, please verify that all checks are payable to LWE PTO. If necessary, please contact people who have made checks payable to the wrong entity to get a corrected check. Thank you for your cooperation!
The School Store opens next week! If your children are interested in purchasing school supplies, they can visit the school store in the mornings from 7:20 - 7:40am before school starts or during lunch on Wednesdays only from 11am - 1pm. The School Store always has some great items for students to purchase and this is a great way for kids to practice managing money and making purchases!
Carnival Time! We have had several planning meetings so far and things are really coming together. Our immediate needs are giant shade structures (for sitting areas and the silent auction) and long tables (for the silent auction and bake sale). If you know anyone who can loan us these items for the carnival, or if you would like to sponsor a shade structure, please let us know at carnival@lakewaypto.org. Booth assignments are being assigned to classrooms now and should be completed by next week. You will be receiving lots of carnival information in the October 5 Tuesday folder, including information about buying wristbands, business sponsorship information, general carnival information, and silent auction information. We are implementing many of the ideas/suggestions we received from last year’s post-carnival survey. Please plan on supporting this event, our biggest fundraiser of the year, on October 30 from 2-5pm!
The next PTO meeting is Tuesday, September 28 at 9:15am in the PTO workroom. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend. Just a reminder, minutes from all PTO meetings are posted on the Web site at www.lakewaypto.org/meetings.htm. Please note that minutes from the previous meeting must be approved so there is always a one-month delay in postings. Minutes from the August meeting will be posted next week. Reading the minutes is a great way to stay on top of things that are happening at school!
If you are making a deposit or need to pay an expense on behalf of the PTO, please use the “Treasurer’s Trove” link on the home page at www.lakewaypto.org to download deposit forms, check requests, reimbursement forms, and other forms that you might need. Also, please use the “Money Handling Procedures” link to review the guidelines for handling money and making deposits. Your cooperation is very much appreciated and will reduce the amount of time it takes to make deposits and pay vendors.
