Buddy/Mentor: 30-minute per week commitment – Read with a student
weekly to encourage the love of reading.
Book
Fair: Volunteers help with setup and sales, working shifts, setting
up books, assisting students in book selection, assisting the librarian,
and boxing up remaining books. All proceeds from book fairs purchase
library books and other learning media.
Box Tops/Labels
for Education:
Monthly - Help count product labels once a month for redemption and
distribute information to the school about these campaigns.
Bulletin
Board:
Monthly - Develop seasonal and informational displays on three bulletin
boards in the school hallways. Most of the creative materials have
already been made—we just need someone to update and manage them.
Canned
Food Drive:
Late Fall - Organize canned food drive for area food bank. Get
information out in Tuesday Folder, monitor collection bins, and arrange
for delivery to food bank.
Corporate
Community Support Programs: Ongoing - Develop awareness of Target,
Randall’s, Office Depot, and other fundraising opportunities
through area businesses and shopping programs. Can be done from home!
Fat Friday:

Last Friday of each month; assist with setup and coordination
of lunches provided for teachers and staff.
District
UIL Academic Meet: Monitor students; help with hospitality room,
information booth, and traffic control for academic meet in late Fall
/early Spring.
Front Office
Reception: Weekly - Answer phones, direct visitors, and assist staff
and students. Must be able to provide consistent weekly service.
Fall Carnival: We need people to help on committees in
the early planning stages of the carnival and at the end of August we
will have our first meeting. If you can help on a committee or would
like to be a co-chairman or a chairman of an area listed please check
where you are interested. We will contact you soon. Your homeroom parent
will organize your child's class booth in the next few weeks for sign
up.

Living: Help promote a healthy lifestyle for our children through
various programs throughout the school year.
Grade
Level Coordinator: Ongoing - One person is selected for each grade.
Meet with team leader at the beginning of the year to plan events for
the entire year. (Team leaders plan the year’s events with their
teachers prior to meeting with the grade-level coordinator.) Organize
the team leader’s information in a user-friendly format for distribution
to the homeroom parents. After meeting with the team leader, meet with
your homeroom parents to explain the procedures. Deal directly with the
PTO volunteer coordinator with issues, concerns, ideas, etc. Please
note sign up deadline for Grade Level Coordinator is August 31st.

Assistant: Ongoing as needed - Every parent is eligible to help as
much as they want to and can. Help as needed in your child’s classroom
as requested by the homeroom parent and/or teacher. Note: You can help

Room Parent: (“Room Mom”): Ongoing - One or two parents are
selected per classroom. Coordinate with grade-level coordinator,
teacher, and parents to organize in-class projects, field trips, class
parties, and other school functions. (What am I getting myself into???

parents are selected by the administration. You can apply for multiple
classrooms but you can be a homeroom parent in only ONE classroom.

Library
Assistant: Ongoing – Check-in, check-out, shelf books, and assist
students. Must be able to provide consistent weekly service.
Lost
and Found: Weekly commitment – Organize and distribute lost
and found items, and coordinate getting unclaimed items to local
charity.
Marquee:
Weekly commitment – Update the school’s marquee on Lohmans Crossing with
school, district, PTO, and community information.
Mustang POP
“Parents On Patrol:” Patrol the school to assist students, teachers,
and visitors. Ongoing one-hour shifts at various times during the day.
Provide lunchtime relief for receptionist. Must be able to provide
consistent weekly service.
Natural Areas:
Ongoing - Organize PTO-funded tree planting, landscaping, and
gardening activities to increase knowledge of science, culture, and
natural beauty.

Hassel Fundraising:
Assist with LWE’s new fundraising campaign designed to be “no
hassle” and eliminates all other major fundraising.
One-Time/Occasional
Volunteer: Work as needed “every now and then” on one-day or
one-time projects that arise during the year.
PTO Board
Member: Help make our school the best it can be. Elections held
every spring.
Red Ribbon
Week: October - Drug awareness week. Work with school
counselor to implement program, organize, and oversee volunteers.
Recycling:
Ongoing – We need someone to spearhead this program; we currently do not
have anything in place. Promote paper and ink cartridge recycling, and
coordinate pick-up of recyclables with recycling companies.
School Store:
Weekday mornings 7:20am-7:40am and mid-day from 11:00-1:00. Sell school supplies to students and
maintain inventory.
Science
Lab:
Assist 4th and 5th grade teachers in science lab. Various times
depending on class schedules.
Spanish
Volunteer:
Volunteers needed to devote 30 minutes to 1 hour per week to implement
district purchased Spanish program in LWE kinder-third grade classes.
Working knowledge and good pronunciation of Spanish needed.
Special Area
Assistant: Ongoing - Help at art, music, and PE special events.
Special
Area Coordinator: Assist with art, music, discovery program, and PE
events as required by special area teachers.
Staff
Appreciation: Monthly meetings/bi-annual luncheon – Provide food
and/or help serve at luncheons and one staff meeting per month.
Tech
Mom/Dad: Assist in managing LWE PTO webpage and provide any
assistance needed by teachers in researching new technology purchases.
Track &
Field Concessions: Sell concessions during Track and Field event
held in spring. Several shifts available.
Vision and
Hearing Screening Aide: Assist school nurse with students.
Yearbook:
Ongoing – Take pictures at school events and in classrooms as needed.
