Looking for a way to get involved at Lakeway Elementary School? Volunteers are needed and appreciated! Please take a moment to look over the list below and decide which opportunities interest you. Your involvement can be as large or small as your time allows. You only need to return one form per family (not one form per child).   Please fill in the information below and check the areas you are interested in volunteering for.  Return completed forms to your child's teacher (please be aware that the teachers do not read these forms).  Sign Up Deadline: Tuesday, September 13, 2011.

  Art Showcase:  Gauguin, Picasso, and Degas all had their art displayed before they were famous.  Plan and coordinate a school-wide art gallery while working closely with the art teachers.

  Book Fair:  Must love selling books!  Our library has a book fair twice a year and needs help with setup, sales, and assisting students.  All proceeds from the book fairs benefit our library.

  Box Tops/Labels for Education:   We need a prize patrol for our Box Tops/Campbell's Labels program.  Must be comfortable contacting local businesses for student and class prizes.

  Corporate Community Support Programs:  Develop awarness of Target, Randalls, and other fundraising opportunities through area businesses and shopping programs.  Ongoing commitment.

  Fab Friday:  Calling all amateur chefs.  Occasional help needed with catering for our monthly teacher and staff luncheon.

  Family Fun Night:  Let's have a picnic and a movie night with our Mustang families!  Plan, coordinate activities, concessions, set-up, and clean-up.  Let's have some good old-fashioned fun.

  Library Assistant: Have you always wanted to be a librarian?  Here's your chance!  Our library needs help with check-in, check-out, organizing and shelving books, and assisting students.  This is a weekly position.

  Lost and Found:  "Mommy, I lost my jacket."  At the end of each month, organize and distribute lost and found items.  Coordinate donation of unclaimed items to charity.

  Mustang Carnival:  Games, games, and more games.  Assistance is needed in several areas such as planning, business sponsorships, cakewalk, concessions, community service, carnival design/layout, cleanup, decorations, etc.*

  Mustang Derby:   Event planners, we need you.  Plan and organize an annual evening mixer to be held on May 4, 2012.  Coordinate and manage advertising, decor, music, and more. *

  Mustang Derby Silent Auction:  And the winner is... Coordinate and manage the silent auction.  Includes soliciting auction items, designing, and printing the catalog of auction items. *

  Natural Areas:  Do you have a green thumb?  Organize tree planting, landscaping and gardening to beautify our school.

  One-Time/Occasional Volunteer:  If you are a busy parent, but would like to help out occasionally, we need you!  Pitch in as needed for one-day or one-time projects that arise during the year.

  Outdoor Classroom:  Breathe fresh air and appreciate nature while learning in our future outdoor classroom would be a dream come true.  Help PTO make this wish a reality by becoming involved in researching, planning, and implementing.

  Parent Advice Committee: Do you have new ideas or feedback? Meet, review, and discuss upcoming events/ideas. 

  Parents on Patrol (POP):  Ms. Lisa, the school receptionist, has so much work to do and needs your help from 9:30-10:30 or 1:00-2:45 once a week.  Duties include delivering messages, lunches, and homework.  Assist students, teachers, and visitors as needed.

  Race to the Finish Fundraiser:  Isn't it great that our kids/parents don't have to go door to door and sell things?  This is the reason we have this fundraiser.  Mange, advertise and communicate family and business contributions for the PTO's annual fundraising campaign.  Includes writing thank you notes and mailing tax notices for donations.

  Science Lab:  Get your lab coats out!  Assist 4th and 5th grade teachers in science lab.  Times vary depending on class schedules.

  School Store:  If you love talking to kids and helping them shop, this job is for you.  Sell fun school supplies and spirit wear to students in the school cafeteria.  Wednesdays from 10:45-12 or 12-1:30. 

  Staff and Teacher Appreciation: We love our LWE staff.  Let's show our appreciation by assisting with luncheons for LWE staff (seimannually) and manage Teacher Appreciation Week activities.

  Talent Show:  Casting call...Assist with the LWE student talent show held in the fall.

  Track and Field Day:  On your mark, get set, go!  Assist with grade-level track and field day or serve munchies to the athletes.

  Vision and Hearing Screening Aide:   Do you have 20/20 vision?  Assist school nurse with students during annual vision and hearing screenings.

  Yearbook:  A picture is worth a thousand words.  Help with photo collection and editing for yearbook. Ongoing commitment.

Please be aware that all LTISD volunteers who are not a parent, grandparent, guardian or school employee who are volunteering more than once, and are not with a district employee at all times while volunteering, are required to undergo a criminal background check.

All volunteers are required to complete a confidentiality agreement for the school year and attend a mandatory LTISD volunteer orientation on September 13 at 9:30 a.m., or on September 20 at 7 p.m., in the school cafeteria.
